Meningitis Now Charity Fashion Show, BangorMeningitis Now Charity Fashion Show, Bangor
Last week I was at the Marine Court Hotel in Bangor for the Meningitis Now Charity Fashion Show.
On arrival guests were greeted by a scantily clad butler serving drinks! Each guest got a goody bag from Rituals and had time to browse the stalls selling everything from make up, jewellery and handbags to beauty treatments and cupcakes. (As you can imagine this was a rather female dominated event!) I have to confess to a quick browse myself before the event started and being tempted into buying a lovely light purple scarf.
The entertainment kicked off with the talented singer Connor Martin providing some classic songs to fit with the glamorous Holywood theme while the ladies browsed. Then local comedian Neil Dougan stepped up as compere and set the stage for a fun evening. Two bronzed "Oscars' took up stations at either end of the runway and the fashion show began. Lights, music - models! As the SERC NVQ Beauty Students came down the catwalk showing a range of clothing from local store Menarys and Tempest there was everything from evening wear to stylish casual on display.
The interval was an opportunity for more browsing while Sharon Matchett and Richard Turner from Swing Belfast gave a West Coast Swing performance, and then Connor Martin came back on with more music. And with an empty space to dance the very handsome butler took to the floor, quickly joined by one of the organisers! Another indication of the great atmosphere and party feel to the whole evening!
Neil Dougan was back entertaining the crowd again before the second half of the fashion show. The evening was rounded off with some words from Meningitis Now and a lively raffle!
